Unaware of the Lifetime Credits in the financial aid system and exhausting all of my federal loans and PELL grants, along with the lengthy cost of my chosen program (Political Science). I was out of money and my only other option being to pay out of pocket. I had to pay down my debts in order to enroll in classes again. I was finally given another shot at getting a small fraction of the federal loan for the Summer 2018 semester which I accepted in the amount of $1800.” - Anea Johnson

Read More"My college education was interrupted for a second time due to early pregnancy. I suffered from physical and emotional abuse early on in my childhood which carried on through adulthood. I was diagnosed with PTSD, OCD, and Stress Induced Eating Disorder. I have attended two city colleges in my life time followed by two trade schools. Read MoreEverything seemed to be going smoothly until life decided to test my ability to overcome adversity. In February of 1995, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer. Eight months later, I became ill and was hospitalized. At the age of 24, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I gave in to the fear of an uncertain future and dropped out of college. (I would go on to have exacerbations (flare-ups) of the Multiple Sclerosis throughout the years).
